Account Executive (IPR)

AMP Agency is looking to hire an inspired Account Executive to join our Integrated Public Relations and Social Media team in our Boston office.

The Account Executive will assist in securing wide-ranging online and traditional media placements in support of AMP's client base. In addition to an in-depth experience with, and understanding of, media outreach, s/he must have a solid understanding of social media communications and brand community management.

The Account Executive role provides a unique opportunity to positively impact the growth and success of AMP's clients. The ideal candidate brings strategy development, traditional and digital media relations, and social media experience, as well as an impressive roster of established relationships with third-party influencers and consumer-based media contacts in long lead and local print, local and national broadcast and bloggers/online editors. S/he must demonstrate skill with face-to-face client interactions, new business pitches and management. Two-to-three years of relevant experience with public relations in agency or in-house environments is required.

The Account Executive must be a strategic thinker and collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment. S/he must demonstrate passionate, enthusiasm and solution-oriented qualities. S/he must also consistently demonstrate creativity, professional integrity, and accountability.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Building and sustaining relationships with third-party media, digital influencers and internal business partners to meet client needs
  • Demonstrating strategic and tactical proficiency in media relations, including developing and executing traditional and online media outreach plans and social media communications and outreach plans
  • Building branded social media communities and assisting in content and communication strategy development for branded communities
  • Developing and deploying storylines and pitch strategies that align with broader communications plans
  • Planning and management/coordination of publicity events and partnerships on behalf of agency clients
  • Effectively pitching stories to appropriate third-party media and digital influencers resulting in secured placements on behalf of agency clients
  • Participating in brainstorms to develop and enhance strategic and creative thinking
  • Writing, editing and proofreading materials, ensuring quality and consistency with AP style guidelines while also making certain content aligns with communications plans and objectives
  • Presenting activity updates to clients in weekly status and in-person meetings
  • Providing ongoing quality client support, including attending meetings, troubleshooting and escalating issues when needed, meeting deadlines, and developing client deliverables (e.g., agendas, recaps, wrap reports)


Core Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations and/or communications
  • 2-3 years of experience with traditional and online public relations in either an agency or in-house environment
  • Demonstrated network of traditional and digital media contacts in the consumer realm such as print and online editors, broadcast producers and bloggers
  • Demonstrated experience and success in securing media placements in top-tier national and local media outlets
  • Exposure to integrated, cross-channel digital and social media communications strategies
  • Superb communications skills, including proficiency in AP Stylebook guidelines and strong writing, editing, presentation and speaking skills
  • Proven ability to meet aggressive deadlines while working as an individual contributor in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while managing time and prioritizing deliverables
  • Demonstrated proficiency in standard office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required
