Click Fraud Lawsuits

With the recent lawsuits against Google one has to really wonder, do the plaintiffs really believe that Google is actually ignoring the click fraud issue in order to make more money? To me, this just does not make sense. There is so much legitimate money to be made by paid search providers, such as Google and Yahoo! Search, why would they risk their credibility to make a few extra bucks from fraudulent clicks. You can bet that there is a team of the smartest people in the online world working on this issue right now. In addition, it is up to the advertiser, or their agency, to monitor their search campaigns to determine if there are odd things happening.

My recommendation to these lawsuit happy individuals is to drop the self-promoting lawsuits and use that money to invest in the necessary tools, and/or an agency, to better monitor your search campaigns activity.

Have a good 4th of July everyone,

JP
