Washington Post is reporting that Ask.com plans to spend $100 million dollars in 2007 on branding resources & media. At the Media and Telecoms Summit in New York, Chairman and CEO Barry Diller stated:
"We have a number of ways to tell people about Ask, its tools, and why it should be used (and) why you should make a change from Google"
Diller also adds:
"We'll spend this year probably, on media, close to a hundred million dollars to promote Ask"
As of last week, Ask already began a major TV avertising campaign, however the marketing budget will also expand to different types of media. Ask currently holds 5.2% market share in U.S and it should be interesting to watch whether or not this marketing push will help the engine gain a greater market share.
